MetJeBank
With MetJeBank your customers can pay securely and directly through their own bank.
MetJeBank is an alternative to Wero and closely resembles the iDEAL user experience as it was known in the Netherlands for many years. The solution is based on modern Pay by Bank technology, allowing consumers to pay directly from their trusted banking environment, without a payment card or separate wallet.
While Wero is developing into a broad European payment solution and is gradually replacing iDEAL, MetJeBank focuses specifically on a payment experience tailored to Dutch consumers.
MetJeBank therefore combines the technology and flexibility of Pay by Bank with the simplicity, familiarity, and trusted payment flow that Dutch consumers associate with the original iDEAL.
The payment is initiated directly from the customer's bank account. As a result, the customer does not need to manually enter card details or other payment information.
This makes MetJeBank a fast and familiar payment experience for Dutch consumers and gives merchants an alternative to traditional online payment methods.
How does it work?
The payment process is simple:
- The customer selects MetJeBank during checkout.
- The customer can then select their own bank or, depending on the integration, be redirected directly to their bank's environment.
- The customer is redirected to the environment of the selected bank.
- The payment order is reviewed and authorized by the customer there.
- After approval, the payment is processed through the bank.
- The payment status is communicated back to the merchant.
During authorization, the customer remains in the trusted environment of their own bank.
Payment Initiation Services
MetJeBank uses Payment Initiation Services (PIS). This is a payment service that falls under the European PSD2 regulations. With the account holder's consent, a payment order can be initiated with their bank.
For MetJeBank, the infrastructure of ibanXS is used for this purpose, a Payment Initiation Service Provider authorized by De Nederlandsche Bank.
For each payment, the customer provides consent by authenticating the payment order in their own banking environment. The actual execution of the payment remains the responsibility of the customer's bank.
