Payment Methods - Flying Blue+
With Flying Blue+, consumers can use their saved balance for online payments. If the balance is not sufficient, another payment method can be used to cover the difference.
With Flying Blue+ through Pay., customers can use their Flying Blue Miles to pay for an online purchase in full or in part. If a customer does not have enough Miles, or only wants to use some of them, they pay the remaining amount using another available payment method. Pay. offers Flying Blue+ in partnership with Pointspay.
How do you activate Flying Blue+ with Pay.?
You can activate Flying Blue+ under “Verkooplocatie” (Sales location) in the Pay. portal. According to Pay., activation takes an average of three days; for Premium customers, it is usually completed on the same day. Once activated, you can add the payment method to your webshop checkout. Flying Blue may ask additional questions about your offering during the onboarding process.
How do you receive your payout?
Revenue from Flying Blue+ payments is paid out to you through Pay.’s regular clearing process. Payouts follow the payout frequency you have configured with Pay.
How does payment work for the customer?
- The customer selects Flying Blue+ as the payment method in the webshop checkout.
- The customer signs up or logs in with their Flying Blue account.
- In the payment environment, the customer sees how many Miles are required and chooses how many Miles to use.
- When paying partly with Miles, the customer pays the remaining amount using an available payment method.
- Upon purchase, the Miles used are deducted from the Flying Blue account.
Who processes the Miles and the additional payment?
Pointspay handles the technical processing of Miles within the Flying Blue+ payment method. According to the Flying Blue+ terms and conditions, the amount paid by payment card is collected by Pointspay AG on behalf of the merchant. As the merchant, you therefore do not need to send the customer a separate payment request.
Example of a partial payment
A customer places an order for €100 and uses Miles that cover €30 of the purchase within the payment environment. The customer pays the remaining €70 using an available payment method.
Both parts are processed within the payment flow. As the merchant, you do not need to collect the €70 separately again. The amounts in this example are illustrative and do not represent a fixed conversion rate for Miles.
What happens in the event of a return?
The customer contacts you as the merchant to arrange a return or refund. Miles cannot be paid out to the customer as money, including in the event of a return. Follow Pay.’s applicable refund procedure to process the refund.
What happens in the event of a dispute or chargeback?
If the customer paid the remaining amount by credit card and a dispute with your business remains unresolved, the cardholder can dispute the payment with their bank. This may result in a chargeback on the credit card portion of the payment.
Pointspay processes the credit card payment on your behalf as the merchant using its own Merchant ID (MID). As a result, Pointspay receives the chargeback on its MID. Pointspay then passes the chargeback amount on to your business by debiting your account balance with Pay. Pay.’s standard chargeback fees apply.
A chargeback on the credit card portion does not automatically mean that the Flying Blue Miles used will also be credited back. Refer to the chargeback notification for the amount charged to your business and details of further handling.
